Rieger Distillery A Kansas City Gem
Rieger Distillery is a craft distillery located in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri. It was founded in 2013 by Ryan Maybee and Andy Rieger, and it quickly became a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The distillery is named after the Rieger Hotel, a historic Kansas City hotel that was once a popular gathering place for gangsters and politicians.
History
The Rieger Hotel was built in 1910 and quickly became a popular destination for the city’s elite. It was also a popular hangout for gangsters, including Al Capone and Bugsy Siegel. The hotel closed in 1972 and was demolished in 1980.
In 2013, Ryan Maybee and Andy Rieger decided to revive the Rieger name by opening a distillery in Kansas City. They named the distillery after the hotel and began producing a variety of spirits, including whiskey, gin, and vodka.
Products
Rieger Distillery produces a variety of high-quality spirits, including:
- Whiskey: Rieger’s whiskey is made from a blend of corn, rye, and malted barley. It is aged in new American oak barrels for at least four years.
- Gin: Rieger’s gin is made with a blend of juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, and other botanicals. It is distilled in a traditional pot still.
- Vodka: Rieger’s vodka is made from corn and is distilled four times. It is then filtered through charcoal to remove impurities.
